Thunder Arm to Chelan

My plan is to have Maria drop us off on Friday morning.  Get our permits at the North Cascades Ranger Station and hike 140 miles to Chelan.  This trip is open to one more person, bringing the total to three, as Elizabeth wants to go, too.  The reason is that three is the number of car spaces, and it is hard to keep large groups together over 140 miles.

I imagine this trip to be a PCT-style packing trip.  I am wearing trail runners, and yes, I do think there will be snow patches up on the ridge above Lake Chelan.  If you want to go on this trip, please join me for one of my small weekend hikes so we can ensure we get along and we are compatible with our paces.  They do not have to be the same, but they can’t be drastically different.

This trip has a stop in Stehekin.  I am thinking of mailing some food there to lighten the packs.  Also, note that Stehekin flooded this past fall, and I need to see how the repairs are going.  I am assuming it will be open by the July 4th weekend.  So if interested, let’s have coffee some evening or a beer at my house or a cafe, and go over the maps and discuss personal objectives.  My objective is just to walk, look at the beauty of nature, and laugh and smile.
