Elevation Gain: 6,200 ft for the loop! It looks steep! Click on the map!
Date: May 31st – June 1st ( Leave Friday night)
This is a forest hike south of Rifle Lake. The plan is to hike the mapped loop counter clockwise via the Goat Creek Trail, passing behind the 250+ foot Cathedral Falls, then continuing up to Deadman’s Lake. Sunday, continue the loop on a forested ridge past the small Tumwater Lake or climb the forested peak, and then descend back to the car. This hike has a ton of elevation gain and I expect lots of up and down. The ridge hike from Deadman’s Lake to Tumwater Lake looks dry. (If you have a very old Gazetteer Map open it to page 33 and you will see a small Sasquatch symbol next to Deadman’s Lake thus the name of the loop.)
I expect this to be a forest hike with minimal views. If a waterfall, two lakes, and fuzzy pictures of Sasquatch excite you, contact organizer Kevin Koski.
Note I do not expect this to be easy due to the large amount of elevation gain and I have no clue when this random loop has been logged out!
Oh – I also think driving down Friday night would be awesome!
