Well I decided to to a solo climb up Silver Peak last Friday on the West face of the mountain. I reached the trailhead at 9:30 PM and continued to climb until 2:00 AM when I decided I needed to wait until morning to actually find my way around this cliff band tht was currently thwarting me. Since I was currently located on a 55 degree slope I was happily forced to build a snow bench for my bivy sack. I built it on a snow covered rock rib in order to avoid any potential snow slufs through the remainder of the night. I woke at 8:30 AM with my face pressed against my breath dampened inside of the bivy to finish off this mountain I made a winter attempt at a long time ago. Any how two hours of further plowing through deep snow broughtme within one houur of the summit when I decided to turn back to wind and low visibility during the day. Sure no visibility at night is just fine, but I just can't handle it during the day. Anyhow I still have this mountain to do, and I found a better route on my down climb so if anyone wants to attempt to ski up this peak his weekend call me!
Thanks,
Kevin Koski
