Enchantments Camping Permit, Fall 2012
Anyone interested in backpacking in the Enchantments in late Sept or early October? It would be enjoyable to photograph and do some non-technical climbing in the area when the Larch trees are changing. If nobody has put in for a permit yet, I would be happy to do so, for the Core Enchantments Zone.

The last three times I've applied I didnt get permits. I might have to go back to the knocking on the front door system.

I applied last year for the first time with no luck. Trying again this year. Bought 4 lottery tickets for various weekends with Thursday start dates July-Sept, hope something pans out but probably will resort to "knocking on the front door" as you put it.
Good to have you on board BPJ.

Thanks PW. Of the nine times that I've been into the "Chants" five of them have come from knocking (so to speak) on the front door. If you stand at the front door of the ranger station at 0645 they will open the door, see how many people are there and they will GIVE (you still have to pay) five (individual, not group) permits. Four times I was within the number of people (5) so we all got them. One time I was with ten other people and I was lucky enough to get one. Ive been in via snow lakes twice, and in and out via Colchuck lake six times. Ill never go in via Snow lakes again! One time I was there on October 13th and it was PARADISE! I would try for dates later in the summer if I was trying to get in there.
