Welcome to the Peninsula Wilderness Club Field Guide
Please note: This wiki is still very much under construction.
With that said, please feel free to look around and send the webmaster an email if you have any questions.
This on-line guide is the result of a collaboration of information from members of the Peninsula Wilderness Club and the communities of the greater Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas. While the structure of the guide is mostly complete, the content itself is not and is still very much a work in progress. For now, the guide will remain focused on the two peninsulas but as time goes on we will include other topics as well such as Mt Rainier, North Cascades, I-90 corridor, etc, and hopefully a flora and fauna section.
Get involved!
This is a community driven guide. Without your input, this guide is meaningless. If you have something you would like to contribute to this guide, then head over to the
support/wiki section of the forum (register if you don't have an account) and submit a new thread describing the changes you would like to make. A wiki editor will go over the change or addition you want to make to the wiki and will submit it for you.
Things you might submit include:
1. Advising of mis-spellings or small corrections that should be made to a trail description.
2. Adding an
original picture to a trail description.
3. Adding a new
original trail description.
4. Updating an existing trail description.
Become a trail guide editor!
If you would rather take matters into your own hands, you can ask about becoming an editor. Adding descriptions and pictures to the guide is not rocket science, but some knowledge of how the wiki works is necessary to keep everything uniform. Your hard work as an editor will be appreciated by all who use the guide and you will receive credit for your works.
Last but not least...
You don't have to be a PWC member to contribute to this guide. This guide is a gift to the communities of the greater Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas and its use is intended for all who are looking for information regarding our trails .
For an example of a complete wiki experience, click the Olympic Mountains Quilcene Section of the map above to view Quilcene area trails. On the next page click Upper Big Quilcene Trail.
Alternatively, if you click on any of the following categories above - Difficult, Alpine Vistas, Day Hike or Dog Friendly you will find the same Upper Big Quilcene Trail within the results returned.
