The Peninsula Wilderness Club is an informal organization for persons interested in active outdoor pursuits. Activities include hiking, biking,

backpacking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, kayaking, and skiing. All outings from casual hikes to technical mountain sports are initiated

by individual members. These members are volunteers who generously offer to make minimal arrangements so an outing can take place.

They do not accept responsibility for the safety or care of any participant.

The PWC does not conduct instructional programs. Members are expected to have whatever clothing, equipment, skills, and physical

conditioning required for the outing they wish to join. Members are also expected to practice responsible environmental stewardship and

must accept that there are dangers and risk of injury in outdoor activities.

The PWC also sponsors several monthly social activities:

·         Regular Monthly Meeting

Meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Kitsap Unitarian Fellowship Church on Perry Avenue in East Bremerton. This meeting consists of a short business session, reports of recent trips, descriptions of upcoming trips, a door prize drawing and some type of presentation, such as a slide show. Our meeting is great fun for socializing and the public is welcome.  Newer members are highly encouraged to also attend smaller group events and outings in order to get to know us.

·      Monthly Activity Planning Meeting (MAP)

Takes place the Thursday before the regular monthly meeting at a member's home. The location varies, depending upon gracious

volunteers to offer the use of their homes. Members resolve club business; discuss upcoming trips, and the Penwicle editor gathers material

    for the next issue.

·      Monthly Potluck Dinner

The second Friday following the regular monthly meeting at a member's home, location varies. The potluck is occasionally replaced by

other events as a summer picnic and/or dance parties held at area eateries. New members are particularly encouraged to attend and use

this relatively small forum to get acquainted with other PWCers.

·      Newsletter Folding

Held one weeknight a month, this small work party prepares the Penwicle for distribution. The work is not hard, and a festive atmosphere

takes over. The Penwicle includes a calendar of activities and upcoming trips, articles describing members' outdoor activities, club

business and other important information. The Penwicle is also available online by clicking here.
